Mad Catz has announced availability for their M.O.J.O microconsole. The Tegra 4 powered Android device costs $250. Running Android 4.2.2 the device has 16GB of memory, and 2GB of RAM. It comes with a Bluetooth 4.0 game controller, a USB 3.0 and 2.0 port, MicroSD card slot, and support for Wi-FI a/b/g/n.
Besides the significantly higher price then other Android microconsoles, the biggest differentiation from the OUYA or GameStick is that the M.O.J.O comes with Google Play installed and supported. nVidia’s TegraZone is also installed. While full access to Google Play is there, there is likely to be many issues with games that won’t support game controllers, or won’t look very good on large screen TV’s through the HDMI connection.
The M.O.J.O can be picked up from Mad Catz, Amazon, Tiger Direct, GameStop, and Newegg. Some of them list the device in stock now, others say sold out, and one says it’s still up for pre-order. It looks as if online is the only option for now. Mad Catz had promised the device would be available today, but stated it would only be in “limited quantities”.
