OUYA reaches 400 game milestone

The OUYA microconsole has reached an important milestone. After launching in late June with around 170 games, the console now has more then 400 available. Adding around a 100 games a month, it looks as the the console could have over 500 games by the holiday buying season. I think at that time it would be wise for OUYA to put a sticker on the retail box stating that they have over 500 games available, as this could help persuade some to put down the $99 to purchase the system.

Since release the title “TowerFall” has been #1 on OUYA’s O-Rank chartThe O-Rank chart accounts for downloads, sales, and engagement time to come up with its tally. TowerFall is a local multi-player combat platformer with retro style graphics. It’s also one of the more expensive games on OUYA coming in at $14.99 . TowerFall is currently an OUYA exclusive, but will be coming to other platforms in the coming months.

We don’t have hard numbers as far as console sales for the OUYA, but it’s good to see that they continue to add new titles on a weekly basis. Developers seem to still be giving OUYA a chance. OUYA owners are however still waiting for the ability to install games on additional storage (USB etc.). The 5GB available for apps fills up very quickly, and has been the sore spot for a lot of customers. OUYA has promised that this feature is coming but has given no time frame as to when it will happen.
